(Paper) HP Fresher Job Interview Placement Paper: 21 June 2010

Job Interview Paper: Hi Friends,

This is Labin senapati, HP conducted its off-campus recruitment on 21th June, 2010. It was a off-campus recriutment in OXFORD college, Bangalore.

A total of around 3000 students participated in this recruitment drive. They allow only B.E./B.TECH students.

Selection Process:

  • Written
  • GD
  • Technical Interview
  • HR Interview

1. Written Exam:

As like other placement exams, it was also an objective based exam but it contains four parts.

1) Aptitude (R.S Aggrawal is sufficient 4 this)
2) Reasoning
3) English (synonyms and antonyms)
4) Passage

Around 300 students were able to qualify this stage.

2. Group Discussion:

Each group was comprising of 12 students. Each group got different topic.

For my group it was "Should Mobile Phones are Banned in Schools?" As soon as the GD started, everyone was in a hurry to tell his points. No one was listening to anyone. It was like a fish market.

Always remember that someone is monitoring you. Try to be a good listener. Put your points confidently.Try to manage the group, it creates a good impression. I followed the same technique and by god grace, cleared the GD round also. Finally around 135 students were left.

3.Technical Interview:

In this round, he asked following questions.

  • As soon as i entered the room, tech HR asked me "Are u feeling nervous"? I replied honestly " Yes a little bit."
  • Tell me about yourself..?
  • He asked few questions related to my trainings that i have undergone during my summer vacations..
  • After that actually I'm from IT branch so he asked some questions from technical background like in Core Java, Oracle, some unix command, some from C++.

In this my first question. from Java was why Java is platform independent and something about JVM. And awt package and swings (all this was very easy questions).

In oracle he draw a table and told me to select particular record from that table with using some constraints. and also asked difference between statement, prepared statement, collable statement and some more general questions.

Unix part was very easy in this he asked some basic commands of unix and description i.e. related to files, directory and electronic self like ls, cat, cp, chmod, mkdir, rmdir, passwd, kill, who etc.

In C++ he asked some questions from header files and graphics programming.

After all he raised some more general questions.

"Why u want to join hp ?"

If some other company will be providing you more ctc, will you leave hp? Finally around 15 students were able to clear this round.

4. HR Interview round:

  • It was a very easy round. Here again they are concentrating on your communication skill and your confidence
  • This are very easy they asked me
  • Tell me something about yourself?
  • actually joining placed is chennai so she asked me to relocate.
  • Some questions on strengths & weakness.
    Finally out of 15 candidate only 5 were selected. Luckily I was one of them.
